New Bears coach Matt Nagy hired Helfrich as his offensive coordinator and Helfrich will be expected to help second-year quarterback Mitchell Trubisky improve his performances. The Bears posted a 5-11 record in 2017 and finished last in the NFC North division for the fourth consecutive season. Former Oregon State star Ryan Nall is trying to earn a spot on the Bears roster.
The Ravens (9-7 in 2017) have a bitter taste in their mouths after blowing an opportunity to earn a playoff berth last season. They gave up the game-winning touchdown to the Cincinnati Bengals with 44 seconds remaining and were knocked out of a playoff berth. There could be a quarterback battle brewing after they traded up to select quarterback Lamar Jackson with the final pick of the first round in the 2018 NFL draft and they are already designing plays for the rookie for the season.

The Chicago Bears will open their preseason slate against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night and it should be an exciting contest!
Well, maybe exciting isn’t the right word since we may not see many, if any, of the starters. We’ll also have very vanilla offenses that will be attacking vanilla defenses, but it’s what we expect from preseason game number one. The fact that professional football, even though it will be played by guys that will out of the league in a month, is on our television is good enough to pull big ratings.
Woo Hoo! Football!
Both of these teams are looking to bounce back in 2018 after missing the playoffs last year. Chicago’s last postseason appearance was in 2010, and Baltimore’s last playoff game was in 2014.
These two teams were selected for this particular game because of their respective legends that will be going into the Hall Of Fame, Brian Urlacher and Ray Lewis.
